THE WINE PATCHWORKS : EAU & GAZ

ABOUT A WORKER was invited by Eau & Gaz residency, to host a workshop with winemakers in Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy. For the occasion ABOUT A WORKER decided to reuse wine lees ( winemaking leftovers ), in order to create giant textile patchwork.

step 1 : dying wine lees

After experimenting with wine dyes, ABOUT A WORKER hosted a dying initiation for 50 winemakers. In a short time, each of them got to dyes fabrics to create a big patchwork. Many colors and unique patterns appeared from their creation

step 2 : patchwork making

Once the fabric had dried, the winemakers were asked to assemble 3 giant patchworks together which were then sewn in our studio in Paris
