Kim Hou and Paul Boulenger met in 2011 during an academic exchange in London. Although they studied in different programs (Kim in design and Paul in Business), they became really good friends by sharing the same passion for Fashion.
It comes at no surprise that they started working in that field: Kim in a Fashion studio in New York, Paul in a clothing factory in Morocco.
In 2013, they met to spend the weekend in Brussels and decided to go thrift shopping. Paul then found a French Blue worker jacket, nicely tailored and dating back from 1910. Kim convinced him to buy it, persuaded it will become the essential to have in the years to come.
Little did they know that 3 years later, they would create the first About a Worker collection, based on the French blue collar uniform.
About A Worker gives factory workers the chance to design and produce their own collection from A to Z through a self-expression initiation and over a creative collaboration.
This initiation to design is based on the classical process of creating a collection, from the moodboard to the end product. However, the workers are asked to draw inspiration from their reality as a textile worker and from their opinion regarding the fashion industry.
We believe in total transparency. That is why About a Worker documents the whole creative and production process.
